I am extremely happy with the outcome of my final build. Im glad that I took the time to put the extra effort into modeling a lot of the assets in maya and not using simple shapes in the game, as poor quality as the game is in comparison to AAA games of course I feel that the assests that I used really increased the aesthetic value of the game. Coding was certainly my weak point when I was making my game in unity, I had everything ready to be coded before I even went near the coding side, but from watching youtube tutorials online and the games encounters classes that we have had I managed to learn the sufficient amount of knowledge required to do the simple actions that needed to be completed with in the game.

Anatomy study
Doing this project made me relise how much more practice I need to start putting in with free hand sketch book drawings. Not so long ago I used to be very confident at drawing, but with learning new tools such as maya and unity i've not been drawing so much recently. So over christmas Im going to try and do a couple of sketches a day if I get the time, to really get back the comfortable feeling I had with drawing.

Level design progression
Since i last updated my blog regarding my level, I have completely re designed everything in a much more detailed style to the previous. Besides that I have recently added a lot of the crucial coding that the level needs, such as the doors opening, the ability to climb ladders and also the flashing of the lights.
What I have left to do now is make the two lifts work, the one mid level and the one at the end. after that I can concentrate on any aesthetic customization, for example i plan to create an outer shell for the whole level so that when the player looks out the window they a real form for a space station.

3D modeling assignment - The Temple
Im really enjoying using maya right now, and i'm getting a lot more confident with using it with every task set. Currently i feel most comfortable with structures likes buildings like this for example and other solid objects though I would like to get a lot more comfortable with creating more organic models, however i'm sure that skill will be taught to me soon.
Im really happy with how my temple has turned out, the only thing I would perhaps tweak is the color of the stone brick texture, make it more of a lighter grey perhaps but other than that im really happy with how it turned out.

Life drawing
Life drawing is certainly one of my least favored activities, I always like to take a lot of time on anything that I draw and have found it difficult to get out of that habit. I am however happy with a lot of these drawings, I feel that my skill as improved since the life drawing classes i used to do in college

Tank design project

The crawler tank- gliding across the battlefield with its propulsion treads, the crawlers tank is purpose built for wreaking havoc on those who opose it, with its long range armor piercing main turret and rotating secondary turret that fires a barrage of zuni rockets, leveling buildings in one clip.
The crawler tank is covered in reactive armor where ever its possible, the only weak spots the tank really has is the drivers observation deck at the front of the tank and also the middle of where the suspension system that allows the crawler to curve as it covers bumpy

Gas pumps produced in Maya
My favorite modeling task so far. I really enjoyed using the bump mapping for the textures, being the first time i have ever used this feature I couldn't get over how effective it was in making the texture really stick out on the model as if I actually modeled the bolts and fans in maya itself. I look forward to creating my own textures with these details on them in my own models in the future.

Final insectoid design
Through my initial sketches and research, i found that the praying mantis was the most interesting of the insects that i was looking at and i decided that i would adapt my main design around that insect, combining assets from the other insects that i researched such as the rhinoceros beetles horns and dragon fly wing pattern.
I have called my insectoid, the Mantis Guardian. Sacrificing its claws, it equips dual scythe rifles which are fed ammunition from the poison sac on the guardians back which would usually be feeding into its claws, instead is now processing the poison into bio-bullets inside the rifles inner mechanism. When the need for melee combat arises the guardian will charge in at great speed provided by its wings and headbutt its opponent with its helm, if the initial blow wasn't fatal enough the disoriented target would then have to fend off the guardians swift attacks from the scythe rifles blades.

Monster project
For this project my theme is going to be creatures with extended arms and some what of a natural exo skeleton, I'm going to obviously experiment with a range of different ways to design them but these are going to be my key elements to my monsters.
Concepts
This is my favorite of the three, the idea was that it would be a parasite that takes over the body. Its main purpose to infect more and more humans, by mutating the humans ribs, forcing them to burst out of their chest taking the form of legs, which the parasite then uses to walk around and infect others, by impaling them with their spiked legs which have deposits of parasite eggs on them.
Final monster design
A parasite that infests itself inside the human bone marrow, taking over how bones are formed forcing the hosts rib cage to break out of there chest and transform at a rapid pace into sharp spider like legs. These legs come to a point at each end that's sharp enough to impale a human, and thats just what they are build for. The strange growths half way down on the spikes are full of the parasite in its beginning form, so that when the spike is impaled through a host, the parasite can spread to create another one of these monsters.

Finished textured table and chairs
For this project I wanted to go for a sort of mahogany wood texture on my models and so i made the colour of my wood a lot darker and more red than brown. I found that the chair on the left was certainly the easiest to make and texture but texturing and modeling the second chair on the right proved to be much more of a challenge for me. The hardest part I found was the cylindrical back of the chair and it was also the most awkward to get a good grain on with the texture, but im fairly happy with my finished products.

Gun design - research
I have decided to start my research into the category of fire arms i find the the most appealing, Bullpup loaded magazine rifles, where the magazine is position behind the trigger instead of the more popular position of being in front of the trigger like in an M4 for example.
Bellow are some sketches of weapons that feature in the game Battlefield 4.
